3D Printers

I saw this article on using new technology (3D printer and Kinect) to turn tourists poses into small sculptures instantly and thought it was interesting.

  1. That is very cool! 3d printers have been around a while, and I have seen DIY 3d ceramic printers that spray clay powder mixed with an organic heat activated binder to build a piece from the bottom up, then it is fired in a kiln.
This technology will affect us as artists at some point just as the computer has done for us all. Imagine emailing a digital file(such as a jpeg) to a facility that can create exact copies for anyone who wants one.
